Whistler, BC – Whistler Olympic Park will open for the winter season this Friday, November 26. The Olympic legacy venue in the Callaghan Valley, about 30 minutes south of Whistler Village, will be open daily for cross country skiing, snowshoeing and biathlon until April 3, 2022.
Thanks to natural snowfall in the recent weeks, a variety of trails for both cross country skiing and snowshoeing will be available, including dog-friendly options. Early season conditions apply and more terrain will be opened up once snow coverage allows. Ski trails will be groomed for skate and classic skiing, with options for all skier skill levels from beginners to advanced. Ski lessons for all abilities will be available daily, guided snowshoe tours are offered on weekends & holidays.
Tim Hope, Managing Director of Whistler Olympic Park and his team are excited about the season start: “We are looking forward to a fun and busy winter. Last year during the pandemic we saw many new guests out here who tried Nordic skiing or snowshoeing for the first time and fell in love with our venue. We hope to see many of them back this year, together with our regulars and athletes!” After a hiatus last season due to Covid-19 restrictions, this winter will also see the return of sport events to Whistler Olympic Park with many regional/provincial races, and even international events such as the FIS Continental Cup Ski Jumping & Nordic Combined and the Nordiq Canada National Championships in March 2022.
As the park is going through a progressive opening, visitors are encouraged to check for operational updates before their visit, as processes and services may be modified as needed through the season. In the first operational phase up to December 14, guests will see modifications to Day Lodge operations including rental shop and café on some weekdays.
Prior to their visit, guests are also encouraged to check the conditions web page to confirm opening hours, trail conditions, available terrain and activities.
